Garett Grist, No. 7 DaVinci Foods

Capturing his fourth podium of the season, Canadian Garett Grist came away with a second-place finish on the 11-turn circuit of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca today. The 18-year-old maintains his third-place position in the championship title fight heading into the final two races of the season at Houston next month.

"Today was a great end to a tough weekend. The DaVinci Foods guys and I had to work hard as a team to figure out a better car setup; we improved the car a bit, but just not enough. It was a great learning weekend for us: we learned some things about the car that will help us at other tracks. The race was tough today... I was able to get third place on the first lap, then second (place) a few laps later. I had some pressure from behind the whole way, but never had to defend. It was a lot of fun, and I always enjoy racing up front with Scott (Hargrove) and Neil (Alberico). We have momentum headed into Houston, and I'm looking forward to our finale there."

Austin Cindric, No. 77 Nightrain

Having his best weekend of the year thus far between testing and qualifying, Austin Cindric started Race Two from the 15th position. The 15-year-old secured another top-15 finish, this time on the Northern California 2.238-mile permanent road course in 13th place.

"Certainly had a better race today than yesterday, but had a lot of challenges with the fog. Started 15th and finished 13th. Overall, this weekend was great for my confidence and we'll just keep on knocking on the door; I'm really looking forward to the season finale in a couple weeks at Houston."
