Ming Pabst Announcement 2018
Guyana Driver Ming Signs With Pabst Racing for Second Year of Mazda Road To Indy Competition

Oconomowoc, Wisconsin - Pabst Racing announced today that 22-year-old Calvin Ming will return to compete in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda for 2018.  Ming will drive the #21 Pabst Racing MPS and APAN sponsored entry during the fourteen-round season.

The 2017 season provided an excellent opportunity to lay a foundation and build a great working relationship for the Pabst Racing team and South American driver Ming. Together, the team earned 10 top-10 finishes, four of which were podiums.

Ming, who began his racing career at the age of 6 has raced in various series including Skip Barber, Formula 1600 and the FIA Formula 4 Series in Mexico. In 2016, he won four F1600 races in the United States. Currently residing in Miramar, Fla., Ming studies Civil Engineering at Florida International University and is optimistic about his return to the USF2000 Championship for 2018.

“I feel confident going into the 2018 series after having a successful 2017 season with the team,” said Ming. “I have learned quite a lot from working with them last year, and I am confident that they can provide me with a very competitive car throughout the season this year.”

Ming finished fifth in the championship in his 2017 rookie season and looks to build on that result.

“My goal for this year is simply to take everything I have learned from working with the team last season and apply those same techniques to the best of my ability in order to win the championship,” said Ming.

Ming is the third driver to be announced by the Wisconsin-based operation which holds the 2017 Team Championship title. He will team up alongside fellow returning driver Lucas Kohl and newcomer Rasmus Lindh.

Team owner Augie Pabst has been hard at work lining up his drivers and preparing equipment as the season approaches quickly.

“We are thrilled to have Calvin returning for 2018!” said Pabst. “It confirms to me that we did our job as a team correctly in 2017, which is why he chose to return with our team.  Calvin is another stellar addition to the finest driver lineup we ever could have hoped for.  Welcome back Calvin!”

The Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda will begin with a series test in Homestead, Fla., February 24th through 25th.
