Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing claimed its first victory of the 2015 Cooper Tires USF2000 season at the Cooper Tires Grand Prix of Louisiana.  Driver Nico Jamin claimed his first win, and Aaron Telitz picked up his third podium of the season.

In Round 1, Nico Jamin, in the No. 2 Synova Automotive Eco-Plastics USF2000 Mazda and Aaron Telitz, in the No. 3 Rice Lake Weighing Systems USF2000 Mazda, started first and second, respectfully on the 2.74-mile, 13-turn road course.

Jamin was able to take a commanding lead, while Telitz battled to hold on to second. In the end, the drivers crossed the finish line 1-2. For Telitz, it was his third second-place finish in a row.

The following day, Telitz started from pole and Jamin started fourth in rainy conditions.  A broken drive-shaft in Lap 2 ended Telitz’s day early and brought out a full-course caution. Jamin was able to hold off a hard-charging field to finish second.

After the NOLA weekend, Jamin sits second in the Championship, only seven points behind leader Jake Eidson (108-101). Telitz is third with 82 points. Cape Motorsports is first in the team championship with a commanding 37-point advantage.

“Overall, it was a great weekend,” said team owners Dominic and Nicholas Cape. “The weather conditions weren’t great, and our drivers performed well.  It’s always great to pic up a win, and we’ll take this momentum to Barber.”

The Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda will next be on track at Barber Motorsports Park, April 24-26.
