Cook Benik StP 2018 Recap

St. Petersburg, Fla. - Sabré Cook completed her debut weekend in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda with Team BENIK this past weekend at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Taking on the barrier-lined temporary street circuit with very little experience in the USF-17 car, Cook was able to build up her Mazda Road to Indy Spring Training program from last month by finishing every single race lap and gain experience for the future.

"I am pleased with the weekend in St. Petersburg," Cook said. "I was able to get comfortable in the car and was able to learn more and more with each passing lap. With walls lining the circuit, I was focused on staying within my limits and finishing every race lap while aiming for the best results possible."

With the first wheel to wheel action of the season, Cook showed constant and consistent improvement throughout the weekend, decreasing lap times with each on track session. Able to build confidence in the car and gain experience throughout the weekend, Sabré is already looking towards the next event weekend.

"This weekend was a learning experience for me," added Cook. "I wanted to learn and gain experience and Team BENIK allowed me to do that, so I have to thank them for that. All the guys made me feel at home and helped me both on and off the track."

Shifting her focus towards the next event, Cook is confirmed to race the Grand Prix of Indianapolis weekend with Team BENIK. With experience at the track from taking part in the Chris Griffis Memorial Open Test in October, 2017, and competing in the SCCA runoffs at the same venue earlier last season, Cook is excited to get back to the familiar track.

Cook continued, "My main goal is to find funding for the whole season. My ultimate plan is to race in the complete Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda series and that is what I'm working towards now. Team BENIK has been awesome to me and I thank them for the opportunities they have given me. We are ready to get back on the track in May."

Sabré Cook would like to send an extra special thank you to Apple Motorsports, Bell Racing USA, Grand Junction Motor Speedway, Mesa Fitness as well as James Davison for his coaching and guidance throughout the weekend. Sabré would also like to thank all of her friends, family and fans that followed her progress and provided encouragement while in St. Petersburg.
