Lexington, Ohio – After experiencing suspension problems on both cars in Saturday's Race 2 of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the John Cummiskey Racing cars took to the track in Sunday's finale looking for a solid, consistent finish to the weekend.

While Ayla Agren, who finished 11th in the No. 33 Energima car, and Lucas Kohl, who placed 12th in the No. 34 Bellko machine, saw their fortunes improve after suffering their first DNFs of the season on Saturday, the left the beautiful road course in central Ohio wishing for more.

After having a solid test day and putting both cars in the Top 5 in the final practice on Thursday, Agren finished P10, P21 and P11 in the three races on the weekend, while Kohl placed P9, P18 and P12.

Sunday, Agren lost two positions early in the race and fell back as far as 13th, and while she was able to move back up to her original starting spot, she could advance no further. Agren mentioned that although Mid-Ohio was her favorite track, it was also tough to pass at times and if a driver made their car a little wider by moving up in the racing line, it made passing even more difficult.

Case in point: only three drivers in the field improved more than two places between their starting and finishing positions.

"The weekend started out really well in testing and you want to keep that momentum going, but we didn't do well in qualifying and that kind of set the pace for the weekend," Agren said. "I just couldn't seem to get by the people I wanted to get by (in Race 3). Unfortunately that was the race where the speed of the car seemed to be the best, but what can you do.

"We'll learn from it and try to get better."

While Kohl improved one spot from his starting position, moving from 13th to 12th, his ride was a little more adventurous. For the second day in a row, Kohl went off track in Turn 4 early on in the race, and after finding the grass on Lap 2 he dropped all the way back to 18th place.

Kohl started digging, and was able to make up six spots and had moved up right behind his teammate before the checkers flew in the 22-lap, 30-minute race.

"One of the things I had done well all weekend was that I had gotten off to good starts and had been able to pass cars in Turn 1," Kohl said. "The car had a problem in Turn 4 on the second lap and I lost a few places, but I was happy that I was able to fight my way back up and get a good finish. It wasn't a Top 10, but we did the best we could."

The Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda now goes on a six-week hiatus, as the cars won't take the track again until Sept. 9, when the series converges on Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif. for the final two races of the season.
