Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing standout poised to build on race win total

LOS GATOS, CALIF. – Neil Alberico's quest for the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda title resumes this coming weekend (August 3-4) with a rare three-race outing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The California racer enters the lone triple bill on the series calendar not only focused on challenging for top honors at the technical road course, but as one of the hottest drivers in the Mazda Road to Indy program, having won two of the past three races.

After what was an up-and-down start to the USF2000 Championship fight, Alberico has quickly re-established himself as a driver to watch, and a title contender to start the second half of the 14-race campaign. The 20 year-old, who earned a superb pole to checkered flag win at the most recent event on the streets of Toronto, Ont., is now ready to continue his run of form in Ohio. While the technical 2.358-mile road course presents different challenges, the No. 2 Racelite Protection/Bondurant School of High Performance Driving/eFormulaCarNews.com/J&M Trophies/OMP America/Cape Motorsports pilot is up to the task.

Alberico, who scored a top-10 in his inaugural run at the track last year, has already indicated he knows the quick way around Mid-Ohio. In official series testing back in early May, the 2013 Cooper Tires Winterfest champion, former USA Scholarship winner, and Bondurant Championship title winner posted the fastest time in two of the sessions, and ended the two-day outing at the top of the speedcharts. Add in the fact that his Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing squad has earned the pole position at Mid-Ohio the past two seasons, and won three of the four races, and the stage is set for Alberico to challenge for race wins and further close the gap to the current series points leader.

"Mid-Ohio is probably one of my favorite road courses in the US," stated Alberico. "The entire team has been working hard this past week to make sure we all perform at our best come race day. This will be a very important race weekend for all of us."

The chase for Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda supremacy at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course commences for Alberico on Thursday (August 1), with a pair of test sessions. Day two features the lone practice run, followed by qualifying just after the lunch break. Round Eight is scheduled to get underway at 8:35 am local time on Saturday (August 3), with Round Nine at 3:25 pm local time. The tripleheader concludes at 9:10 am local time on Sunday (August 4) with Round 10. Live timing and scoring will be available at http://www.f2000.com/Multimedia/Live.aspx The Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing star enters the three races currently third in the championship fight.
