ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing is pleased to announce that Neil Alberico will drive for the team in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda in 2013. Alberico is a 2012 Team USA Scholarship finalist and recently completed a successful USF2000 rookie season.
“It feels great to sign early,” the young driver said. “Now I am able to focus on getting a head start with winter testing. I’m more than excited to be working with Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing for the 2013 season. They are such a talented group of guys, and it’s really my pleasure to be apart of the team.”
The Capes have seen first hand Alberico’s ability on the track. In addition to driving as a competitor during the USF2000 Series, Alberico drove for the team in the last two races of the F1600 Series in September. He finished on the podium in both races.
“It’s great news for the team to have Neil on board for the 2013 season. We came really close last season to no avail, but were ecstatic this year to have him compete on our behalf,” said team owners Dominic and Nicholas Cape. “Neil has done a fantastic job during the tests, posting some really quick times and showing great consistency. Neil also responds really well to input, and the team has been really pleased with his attitude. We think he’ll be a real contender next season.”
In 2012, Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing drivers combined to win 12 of 14 races and led 208 out of 227 possible laps. Matthew Brabham claimed the USF2000 Championship and Henrik Furuseth won the National Class Championship, in addition to the team championship. Alberico hopes to continue the winning streak.
