AVONDALE, La. – Rising British talent Liam McNeilly is set to continue his breakout rookie season in USF2000 Presented by Continental Tire as the series heads to NOLA Motorsports Park for Rounds 3, 4 & 5 this weekend. Racing with Jay Howard Driver Development (JHDD), McNeilly enters the event as the early-season points leader following a flawless double-win performance in St. Petersburg.
The 18-year-old from England made headlines in 2024 with a stunning USF2000 debut on the streets of Toronto, securing a pole position and second-place finish. This year, he's returned full-time with JHDD and wasted no time making his mark, going undefeated in the season opener and topping times during Spring Training at NOLA, where he edged out fellow rookie Jack Jeffers by just 0.0445 seconds.
“Really looking forward to heading to NOLA this weekend,” said McNeilly. “I got my first win in the States here, so I’m looking forward to returning. Our pace in testing has been strong and I’m ready to carry the momentum on from St. Pete this weekend.”
McNeilly’s early-season form comes as no surprise to those who followed his runner-up campaign in the USF Juniors Championship. With a seamless transition to USF2000, he’s quickly established himself as a championship contender.
"It’s great to have Acclaim back on board for this season,” McNeilly added. “They’ve supported me for years and I’m proud to carry their logo for the rest of the year.”
Ian Duggan, Managing Director of Acclaim Contracts Ltd, shared his pride in the partnership: “We have been supporting Liam’s progress for a number of years now. As a local sportsperson to Acclaim Contracts Ltd, excelling in his field of expertise, it is an honor to be part of his progression. We are looking forward to seeing Liam on plenty more podiums this year and developing as a young driver.”
As the season heads into a key early stretch, all eyes will be on McNeilly to see if he can extend his unbeaten streak and further solidify his place at the top of the championship standings.
