The Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda today announced that Allied Building Products will be title sponsor of two pivotal rounds of competition in the championship chase when the series heads to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend. The “Allied Building Products USF2000 National Championship Races at Mid-Ohio” will be in support of both the IZOD IndyCar Series and American Le Mans Series events.
Allied Building Products – a leading distributor of residential and commercial building products to specialty contractors and one of the largest roofing and siding distributors in the United States – has been a partner of the series since 2008, entertaining hundreds of Allied employees, customers and guests over the years.
“We are delighted to have Allied Building Products as the title sponsor for the USF2000 events at Mid-Ohio,” said Dan Andersen, Owner and CEO of Andersen Promotions, the series promoter. “Allied has a reputation nationally as the best in the supply of interior and exterior building products for commercial and residential construction contractors. Their involvement in open-wheel racing the past four years has been terrific for their business and also for the teams and drivers they have supported. I know the Allied people very well, and we are honored to have them as our partner for a great weekend of racing.”
Headquartered in East Rutherford, N.J., with more than 180 branches in 32 states, the company’s Columbus, Ohio, division will host guests from the Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Kentucky markets at the scenic 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course.
"Allied Building Products is proud to sponsor the USF2000 Series at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course,” said Bob Feury Jr., CEO of Allied Building Products Corp. “The USF2000 Series features some of the sport’s best up-and-coming drivers and provides an exciting venue to entertain our key customers and business partners. Allied's partnership and commitment to Andersen Promotions is strong and we are proud to be associated with such a professional organization."
Five different winners in six rounds of action to date has set the stage for an exciting pair of races on Saturday and Sunday, which will be led by Allied guests who will participate in pre and post-race activities. The already strong competition level within the series will be enhanced by new driver additions to be announced this week.
“This will be Allied’s first USF2000 Series title race sponsorship and what better venue than central Ohio,” said Eric Grubbs, Ohio Valley Regional Manager. “Our regional offices are based in Columbus and we enjoy supporting young drivers as they progress toward IndyCar through the USF2000 Series, just like 2011 Indy 500 winner Dan Wheldon."
As the first official step on INDYCAR’s Mazda Road to Indy ladder system, USF2000 drivers are competing for a scholarship package from Mazda to advance to the 2012 Star Mazda Championship. Names to watch include current series points leader Petri Suvanto of Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing and Andretti Autosport teammates Zach Veach – of Stockdale, Ohio – and Spencer Pigot, who are separated by only one point for second and third in the standings.
The green flag for the first of two Allied Building Products USF2000 National Championship Races at Mid-Ohio will take place at 12:05 pm on Saturday. Sunday’s round is scheduled for 12:45 pm, just prior to the start of the IZOD IndyCar Series race.
