SPENCER PIGOT, #8 TEAM ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT CAR - Ended in 4th place, suffering a gearbox failure after starting P2 in his first race with Andretti Autosport
"I learned a lot and had fun today with the Andretti Autosport team. It was a lot different than what I’m used to, so it was helpful to get some good mileage in the USF2000 car. I was pleased to start P2 in my first race today and both Andretti Autosport cars were running up front. Zach had to drop out due to a broken half-shaft, so I was leading into lap 5. Before I knew it, I had the same problem which ended my race too. Overall it was a good day and I’m looking forward to tomorrow."
ZACH VEACH, #7 TEAM ZAKOSI DATA BACKUP CAR - Took a 5th place finish due to a gearbox failure after starting on the pole
"It’s great to be back with Andretti Autosport for 2011, especially with the opportunity to compete in the Winterfest. It’s really helping us prepare for upcoming USF2000 season.
Today we started out quick, led times in all practices sessions, and my new teammate Spencer has been up there with me the whole time. Qualifying went really well and I got my first pole position. I led up to the 5th lap before having a problem with the left rear half-shaft.
I have to thank the crew for their hard work the past few months, especially my crew chief Ron Weaver. We’ll take what we learned from today and see what we can do tomorrow."
