DAWSONVILLE, GA — In a significant move for the upcoming 2024 racing season, VRD Racing is excited to announce the signing of Australian racing prodigy Xavier Kokai to compete in the USF2000 Championship. This latest development marks a new chapter for Kokai as he sets his sights on success in one of North America's most competitive junior racing series.
"Xavier had a solid test with us in December. He's adapting to downforce cars coming from Formula Ford, and we are confident he can make that transition quickly," said VRD Racing's Dan Mitchell.
Kokai, from Melbourne, Australia, has already established himself in his home country after two successful Australian Formula Ford Series seasons, where he picked up a win at Symmons Plains, Tasmania, in addition to several podiums and was well-regarded for his overtaking ability. His transition to USF2000 with VRD Racing positions the young driver to move up through the USF Pro Championships ladder as he looks to focus his racing in the USA.
Xavier Kokai expressed his enthusiasm about joining VRD Racing: "I’m really excited to be part of the VRD Racing team in 2024. Joining the USF2000 Series was the next logical step in my racing career. Doing this with Dan, who has built a strong race team with his international experience and technical knowledge of these cars, ensures we are well-placed for some great results in 2024. I look forward to developing quickly and being part of that."
Kokai's first race on American soil will be the St. Petersburg Grand Prix in March. Keep up to date with Kokai and the test of the VRD Racing team by following @VRDRacing on Instagram.
