INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Brian Belardi is used to being on pit lane when cars are going over 150mph. However, the owner of Belardi Auto Racing - a race team that fields cars in the Mazda Road to Indy ladder series - has been in the middle of the action competing in SCCA National Races at Homestead-Miami Speedway and Sebring International Raceway the past few weeks.
Competing in the Central Division of SCCA, Belardi drove the FC Formula Continental car at Sebring the first weekend of January. There Belardi went on to win his first race, where he started from pole position, and came in second during the second race of the weekend. At Homestead-Miami Speedway last weekend, Belardi began both races from pole and was able to capture two wins.
"It was a lot of fun to get back in the car after being away from it for over a year," said Belardi. "The fact that I was able to be competitive and take home some wins was even more exciting. Driving for fun has always been a passion of mine, but I'm really excited to get the team's 2012 season started and see our drivers go racing. 2012 should be a really great year for Belardi Auto Racing."
Belardi will go back to his team owner responsibilities with team testing and the upcoming Cooper Tires Winterfest for the USF2000 series, which will be held the second week of February in Florida.
