Two-time Canadian F1600 Champion Nathan Blok back behind the wheel of JCR No.33

BEACHBURG, ONT., Canada – In just over a week Beachburg, Ontario, native Nathan Blok will be back behind the wheel of the John Cummiskey Racing (JCR) car No. 33 at Ontario’s most prestigious open-wheel racing event of the year. The annual Toronto Indy returns to the tight street-course at Exhibition Place on the shores of Lake Ontario. The Toronto weekend will comprise of the eighth and ninth rounds of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda on Saturday and Sunday, July 19 and 20.

Blok’s first outing with the new JCR team was in May as part of the USF2000 supporting series to the first road race for Indy Cars at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. His results showed great promise considering it was Blok’s first two races in the 2.0-liter Van Diemen with minimal testing. Blok ranked 12th and 13th respectively in the two races amongst a field of 22 cars.

The 20-year-old engineering student looks forward to developing his relationship with his race engineer and the JCR team at his “home” race. The technically challenging 1.755-mile, 11-turn street circuit will test the discipline of all the drivers as run-off areas are minimal and concrete walls line most of the course.

“I've been anxious to get behind the wheel since Indianapolis and I'm glad that Toronto is finally almost upon us,” remarked Blok. “This weekend wouldn't be happening without the continued support of my current partners as well as my new partners Eneos, Zenith and Tenaquip. I would also like to welcome back Boston Pizza & Mr. Lube. I am looking forward to putting on a good show and hopefully come home with a podium finish.”
