Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing drivers started the 2015 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda season with double podiums for both drivers at the Cooper Tires Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.  Drivers Nico Jamin and Aaron Telitz each finished the opening two rounds on the podium.

In Round 1, Telitz, in the No. 3 Rice Lake Weighing Systems USF2000 Mazda, and Jamin, driving the No. 2 Synova Automotive Eco-Plastics USF2000 Mazda, started second and third, respectfully on the 1.8-mile, 14-turn street course.  The two drivers were able to hold-off a hard-charging field to finish on the podium in their starting positions.

The following day it was a repeat performance for the duo as they started second and third for Round 2. Telitz, battled for the lead on his way to setting the fastest lap of the race on Lap 19 to claim an additional championship point. In the end, Telitz finished second, and Jamin finished third for the second day in a row.

After the opening weekend, Telitz sits second in the Driver Championship, 13 points behind leader Jake Eidson (64-51). Jamin is third with 44 points. Cape Motorsports is first in the Team Championship with an 11-point advantage.

“Double podium finishes in both races is a great way to start the season,” said team owners Dominic and Nicholas Cape. “We’re very happy with the performance of both drivers, and we are hoping to bring this momentum to New Orleans.”

The Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda will return to action at NOLA Motorsports Park on April 10-12.
