ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Through the first seven rounds of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda, Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing drivers have combined for six overall wins, two class wins and six podiums. The team hopes to keep up their winning ways this weekend at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin for Rounds 8, 9 and 10, August 16-18.

Drivers Matthew Brabham (No. 83), Trent Hindman (No. 3) and Spencer Pigot (No. 2), will be competing in the Championship class at Road America, while Henrik Furuseth in the No. 32 will be competing in the National Class in the three-race weekend on the beautiful 4-mile, 14-turn road course.

Pigot, with five wins this season, is leading teammate Brabham in the driver point standings (181-163). Brabham has one race win under his belt, winning the opening round at Sebring. Hindman had his best race of the season in the last round at Mid-Ohio, finishing third. Furuseth has two class wins and is second in the National class, just one point back from the leader.

The team couldn’t be happier with the results at the halfway point of the season.

“We are very pleased with the team through the first seven races,” said team owner Dominic Cape. “They have all matured as drivers, and we are impressed by their talent every time we go to the race track. We said at the beginning of the season this is the best driver line-up we have ever had, and with what we have seen, we definitely know that statement was true. Road America is a great track, and we are looking forward to seeing more great results from all four drivers.”

Pigot is no stranger to Road America. The young driver won Race 1 last year, and finished second to former Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing driver and 2011 USF2000 Champion Petri Suvanto. Although his experience will help, his teammates are all eager to stand atop the podium.

The team continues to improve its procedures as well.

"During the Mid Ohio race weekend, the team had duplicated one set of tires on the nomination form, and although we disagree with the penalty, we respect the Chief Steward’s decision,” Cape said. “We have changed the team’s protocol on the tire nomination format, and we have gone to an automated barcode system this weekend to eliminate any honest mistakes from happening again.”

The USF2000 series will be joining the American LeMans Series this weekend at Road America. The team will test Wednesday, August 15, and will practice and qualify on Thursday, August 16. Race 1 and 2 of the weekend will be held on Friday, August 17, and Race 3 will be held Saturday, August 18.
