ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing driver Spencer Pigot and Henrik Furuseth each claimed victory at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course during the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda weekend, August 4-5.

Pigot, driving the No. 2, was the overall winner of Race 1, while No. 32 driver Furuseth was the National Class winner in Race 2. Matthew Brabham in the No. 83 and No. 3 driver Trent Hindman each had a podium finish.

In addition to the Race 1 victory, Pigot also claimed the pole for both races. His win was the fifth-consecutive victory for the young American driver.

“It was great to get another win this weekend at Mid-Ohio,” Pigot said. “The guys gave me an awesome car. I was able to pull away and control the race from out front. Unfortunately the second race didn't go as well as the first after some contact with Matt (Brabham). Overall it was a pretty good weekend. I extended the points lead and that's the most important thing. I'm looking forward to getting back in the car at Road America.”

Hindman had his best finish of the season with his third-place in Race 2. He finished fourth in Race 1.

“I am extremely pleased to finally be on the podium again, especially in a race as difficult as it was,” Hindman said. “The conditions were very tricky because of the amount of debris on the track, but everyone had to deal with them the best they could. I was just happy I was able to keep the car on the road as well. I had second there for awhile on the last lap, but unfortunately I made a small mistake and just lost out to getting P2. Overall, it was a fantastic weekend. Dominic, Nicholas and Cisco did an awesome job setting the car up which made it so incredible to drive. Now it's on to one of my favorite tracks, Road America.”

After posting the fastest qualifying time, a tire infraction sent Brabham to the back of the field in Race 1. The young Australian driver was able to pick up 27 spots to finish third. His driving won him the Tilton Hard Charger Award, for the driver who gained the most positions during the race.

“I am thrilled about how Race 1 ended up after how it started off,” Brabham said. “It was a lot of fun. I just kept setting goals for myself throughout the race. I would see a couple of cars ahead and it was like, I have to get past them before the end of the race. It kept escalating, when I saw the podium position and I knew I had to push. I managed to get past Trent (Hindman) with a few laps to go to take third, which is good."

Pigot and Brabham were racing for the lead in Race 2 and made contact that ended the day early for both drivers. Pigot finished 14th and Brabham finished 16th. The two remain 1-2 in the points championships. Pigot leads Brabham by 18 points.

Furuseth picked up his second win in the National Class in Race 2. His victory, combined with his third place finish in Race 1, translated into a good points weekend. He is currently in second in the National Class driver points standing, only one point in array of series leader R.C. Enerson.

“The second race was very good for me,” Furuseth said. “I started second, but got a great start and got out first. The team did a good job setting up the car. It felt very good even when we raced on rain tires when the track dried up. It is very close in the championship standings now, and I’m looking forward to the next rounds.”

The team will next be on track August 17-18 at Road America. For more information, please visit www.usf2000.com. You can follow the team on Facebook and Twitter (CMwithWTR) for updates.
