Cook Benik Announcement 2018

Two weekends ago, Sabré Cook completed the Mazda Road to Indy Spring Training program at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida. Getting a feel for the USF-17 car, the on track experiences made the Colorado native hungry for more and now she is pleased to announce her participation in the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg this weekend.

Joining Team BENIK for her Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda debut, Cook will continue to learn the USF2000 program as she adapts to the ever changing conditions of a temporary street circuit.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to race in the first event of the season with Team BENIK,” explained Sabré Cook. “I have had the opportunity to test with a few teams in the past six months and ultimately, will enter the start of the season with the BENIK squad.”

Cook, a 22-year-old female who has been competing in karting for 12 years, made the transition to car racing in 2017 as she competed in the SCCA Formula Enterprise division. Accruing multiple regional, state, national and world karting titles, Cook enters the series with a healthy resume of results. Recently completing her Mechanical Engineering program at the Colorado School of Mines, the female competitor will now shift her focus to racing fulltime in 2018.

With support from Aspen Equity Group, Bell Racing USA, Mesa Fitness and the Grand Junction Motor Speedway, Cook will be entering St. Petersburg with realistic goals and expectations.

“I need to be realistic when I enter my first event. This will be my first temporary course of any kind so it will all be a new experience for me,” added Cook. “I want to learn and gain experience but do the best job possible. I feel that Team BENIK will allow me to do this. I would like to personally thank Gregg Borland and Arms Up Motorsports for their help and support at the Spring Training event in Homestead.”

Cook continued, “After St. Pete, my main goal is to find funding for the whole season. My ultimate plan is to race in the complete Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda series and that is what I’m working toward now. I would like to thank all of my partners that have helped me get to where I am today and commit to them that I will continue to work hard to make them proud to be part of my program.”
