JHDD adds Costello to USF Pro Championships driver lineup
With a year of open-wheel racing now under his belt, Michael Costello will transition to the USF Pro Championships Presented by Cooper Tires in 2024. Continuing with the Jay Howard Driver Development (JHDD) effort, Costello will try his hand in the USF2000 Presented by Cooper Tires program.
“I am very excited to join Jay Howard Driver Development again for 2024,” explains Costello. “After a successful F4 US season with multiple race wins, pole positions and fast race laps, I can’t wait to see what is next with the USF2000 journey and what we can achieve together again in the upcoming season.”
After making the move from karts to cars in 2023, Costello earned race wins, podium results, pole positions and fast lap awards in the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda. Finishing the F4 season this past weekend at the famed Circuit of The Americas (COTA), Costello finished fifth in the end-of-the-year drivers' championship, the highest-finishing JHDD driver in the point standings.
“Michael has shown he has the pace from the moment he started with us,” adds Jay Howard. “He had a successful debut year in cars with multiple poles and wins, and we will look to build upon that as he makes the step up to USF2000. I’m excited to watch him continue to grow in the USF Pro Championships.”
Looking to get to work immediately, Costello will rejoin Jay Howard Driver Development at Barber Motorsports Park in just a few short weeks as he begins testing for his 2024 campaign.
