Lexington, Ohio - Danilo Estrela, fresh off a win in Toronto, looks to repeat his success this weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. This is Estrela's first time actually racing at the legendary road course, however, he has run several test laps around it over the years. In fact, this past May Estrela posted a quick time of 1:22.231 in the #11 Belardi Auto Racing car during an official Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Series Powered by Mazda test. The fastest posted lap from that two day test unofficially was a 1:21.514 by Neil Alberico (Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing).
Rounds 8/9/10 will take place on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn circuit and.will consist of 20-lap or 35-minute races with the first and second held on Saturday, August 3rd, at 8:35 a.m. (EST) and 3:25 p.m. (EST). The third race will be held on Sunday, August 4th, at 9:10 a.m. (EST).
Live timing and scoring (with commentary) will be available at www.usf2000.com. For live updates on Estrela, follow @avastcomm and @daniloestrela12 on Twitter.
Danilo Estrela on racing at Mid-Ohio: "I'm going to Mid-Ohio very confident but realistic at the same time. It won't be easy to win again, but since I have done it I know it's possible. I will try to work as much as I can with Bob (Knox, engineer) on getting the car right and fast for qualifying and the races. Hopefully, we can start and stay on the front row and more importantly finish ahead of the Cape (Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing) guys, especially (Scott) Hargrove. If we can cut the points gap we have a very good shot of winning the championship this year. In fact the last two rounds are Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, which I know very well and I have won the last two Skip Barber shoot-outs there, and Houston which is a street circuit so we will most likely have the same performance we had in Toronto."
