Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.- The Team BENIK USF2000 program will debut this weekend at the Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park for rounds three and four of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda. Joining the team will be American pilot Darren Keane as well as UK driver Toby Sowery as the duo looks to stand on the podium in a stout field of 24 competitors.

“We are happy to finally get on track and debut in the Mazda Road to Indy program,” explained Nick Mitchell. “It has been a long road but we are finally here and able to throw our hats into the mix. Our drivers are ready and as a team, we are anxious and excited to hit the track.”

Sowery will make the trek from the UK where competes in the British Formula 3 Championship and sits seventh in the overall point standings. Fresh off a podium result at the first event last weekend, the 19-year-old has his sights set high in his first career USF2000 event.

Keane enters the Barber event with experience gained in the United States F4 Championship where he was a consistent front-runner. The multi-time karting champion and international competitor will run a select program in 2017 with the plans to enter a few events with Team BENIK.

Mitchell continued, “Both drivers have experience in cars and should be up to speed pretty quickly with the equipment. With the Promoters Test Day scheduled for Thursday, the duo will have the opportunity to learn the track and layout before official qualifying takes place on Friday morning.”
