BELMONT, N.C. – Returning to Indianapolis for the second USF2000 Presented by Cooper Tires event in the past three weeks, VRD Racing’s Danny Dyszelski was looking forward to his second Carb Night Classic. Taking place at the .686-mile Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, Dyszelski showed speed to run inside the top five but did not have the results to prove that in the Cooper Tires Freedom 75.

“Disappointing weekend for sure,” expressed Dyszelski. “We had some good test sessions on Thursday and really ramped up the pace in qualifying Thursday afternoon to turn the fourth fastest two-lap average and earn a spot on the outside of row two for the start of the Freedom 75. Unfortunately, that position was short-lived as in post-qualifying inspection, it was found that my car was slightly underweight which resulted in a disqualification, and I was moved to the rear of the field.”

Rolling off the grid from 16th and on the outside of row eight, the goal was set. Looking to move forward, gain as many positions as possible, and leave Indy with a solid result and momentum, the Freedom 75 went green just after 8:30pm for the one and only night race of the season. However, the race was short-lived for Dyszelski as he was forced to retire after only nine laps with a suspension issue.

Dyszelski added, “The car-related problems we have faced this season have been tough to take, but I have kept my chin up and shown good speed when the car has allowed me to do so. Despite the challenges, I have proven my speed as a driver with speed consistently in the top five and winning multiple races in Radical Cup competition. I will look forward to the next one and hope we can overcome all these issues.”

It will be less than three weeks before Dyszelski is back behind the wheel at the famed Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis. Competing in both the USF2000 Presented by Cooper Tires and the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America programs, it will be a jam-packed weekend where Danny looks to become victorious in both open wheel and sportscar competition during the same weekend.
