After an injury and surgery, Evagoras begins his 2022 campaign
Set to make his Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship debut back in February at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Evagoras Papasavvas was forced to delay the start of his 2022 campaign due to an injury that required surgery. Now, fully recovered and with a successful test at Autobahn in Joliet, Ill., last week, Papasavvas is set to return to the track this weekend with the Jay Howard Driver Development program.
“I am anxious and excited to get my season going, and there is no better place to do it than at Road America,” expressed Papasavvas. “We had a great test last week in my return to the car and I am excited, feeling good, strong and ready to race.”
Signing with the JHDD program over the winter months, Papasavvas was set for his rookie season in the USF2000 program. A karting incident back in December put those plans on hold as surgery was required. Progressing through a rehabilitation program to eventually make his way back to the seat, the Ohio resident is ready to take his first green flag of 2022.
Papasavvas continued, “It has been challenging not being able to drive the past six months, but we had to be patient and work hard to make it through. I am now ready for the next chapter to continue my progress up the motorsports ladder. I can’t thank my family and partners enough for all their support in this process. Thank you to BodyWise, Tiger Natural Gas, Ares Elite Sports Vision, GutsWear Racing and Jay Howard Driver Development. I am looking forward to getting back in the seat.”
On track action at the 4.014-mile, 14-turn road course will get underway on Thursday with a Promoters Test Day. Official series competition will commence Friday with wheel-to-wheel competition running through the race weekend.
