Championship-winning squad aims to win title to put team driver in MRTI Scholarship Shootout

BRANTFORD, Ont., Canada – When you look at the current motorsports landscape and combine it with the global economy, the Canadian Formula 1600 program is very likely the most affordable and value-laden racing program in North America. The strength of the U.S. dollar is providing tremendous value for young American drivers looking for quality seat time, and multi-time Super Series, Ontario F1600 and Quebec Formula Tour champions Britain West Motorsports have seats available for 2016 season in their Honda-powered Mygales. Britain West Motorsports offers a season jam-packed with seat time and wheel-to-wheel racing events, running title-winning cars in three championships, staffed by veteran members of the community. In addition to the two provincial series, Britain West Motorsports will also campaign the prestigious ‘Super Series’, which consists of two events from each series and boasts legendary tracks and events like Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (formerly knows as Mosport), Le Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Canadian F1 Grand Prix) and the Grand Prix Trois-Rivières (GP3R) street circuit. With a program price of just $75,000 USD, there is no better value for the quality of racing on this continent.

For 2016, BWM is offering an arrive-and-drive package that will immerse drivers into F1600 racing and radically elevate their experience and talent levels. The program consists of 36 races over 12 weekends, and will focus on the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship and the Quebec-based Toyo Tires Formula Tour circuit, as well as the Super Series that runs between the two programs. The Super Series is easily the best F1600 series in the country in terms of events and venues, as the calendar includes a support race at F1’s Canadian Grand Prix.

The Toyo Tires Formula Tour series is also part of the Mazda Road to Indy USF2000 $200k Scholarship Shootout, and will send its champion to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in December to via for a $200,000 scholarship to race in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda. This is an unparalleled opportunity that would kickstart the career of the young driver who could win the tile with Britain Wet Motorsports this season.

BWM’s David Clubine and his family have been mainstays in the Canadian road racing community for over 30 years and have won countless races and championships in Formula 1600 competition, including the prestigious events at the Honda Indy Toronto and the Canadian Grand Prix.

“Our programs will include pre-season testing, and depending on the championship, a minimum of four in-season test days,” confirmed Clubine. “We include engineering and driver coaching in addition to the regular duties of running the car. The beauty of the Canadian F1600 program, aside from the value that the strength of the US dollar is providing, is the pure training aspect of the formula. Everyone knows how much can be learned in an F1600 car, and here in Canada, we’re racing all the time. It’s such a strong program.”

The team has won the last two Super Series championship titles with Michael Adams and Chase Pelletier driving their ultra-fast Mygales and they aim to win this year’s crown with a new young driver. The following is the impressive schedule for the 2016 Super Series:

June 10-12 Canadian Grand Prix - Le Circuit Gilles Villeneuve - Montreal, QC
June 17-19 Canadian Historic GP - Canadian Tire Motorsports Park – Bowmanville, ON
August 12-14 Grand Prix Trois-Rivières - Trois-Rivières, QC
August 27-28 Calabogie Motorsports Park – Calabogie, ON

Regionally, the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship takes its drivers to three circuits in Ontario, beginning with the legendary Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, and then Shannonville Motorsports Park and Calabogie Motorsports Park. Numerous professional drivers used the Ontario F1600 program to gain experience, including IndyCar stars like Josef Newgarden, Conor Daly and Spencer Pigot and IMSA pilots such as Kyle Marcelli and Trent Hindman. In Quebec, the famed Le Circuit Mt. Tremblant is added to the Montreal and Trois-Rivières venues, as is the ICAR facility in Montreal.

About Britain West Motorsports:
Britain West Motorsports, Canada’s leading Formula Ford competition group, continues a nearly three-decade-long program of excellence. Started in 1975 by Oliver Clubine, BWM was originally launched to service and repair SU Carburetors for MG sports cars. That effort quickly grew into an engine-building program as demand for maintenance and performance upgrades grew among British sports car enthusiasts. Joining the company in the early 90’s was son David Clubine, who had been building a solid racing resume in Formula Ford. In 1994, Britain West Motorsports began to service, support and rent Formula Ford cars as well as taking on the importing of Dunlop race tires, with sister company Vintage Tyres Limited. By 1999, the company had grown and eventually became the Van Diemen importer for Canada. The organization is now a Canadian dealer for Mygale Cars and is the top F1600 racing team in Eastern Canada, winning the last two Super Series championships.
