Lindenhurst, New York - Long time F2000 competitors Group-A Racing are making a hard push to be full time again in the USF2000 Series. The veteran team based out of Long Island, New York, is wasting no time and has already begun testing for the 2014 season.
“We really loved our time in the USF2000 Series from 1996-1999,” said team owner Joe Scarallo Sr. “We had some really good success and made memories that we will never forget. Unfortunately, our plans to run in the series full time fell apart at the last minute. But that’s okay; we are stronger then ever and ready to give our drivers the best opportunity to go win races & the championship.”
The team kicked off their testing program last week at New Jersey Motorsports Park with a driver from Japan. Group-A Racing has had a lot of good success with the series spec Van Diemen chassis in other F2000/Formula Continental racing in North America. The test gave the team the opportunity to work with a new driver for the first time, along with collecting data on the USF2000 spec parts such as the wings, shocks & Cooper Tires.
“The test was a good successful test. We were able to confirm our thought process on these new parts. Along with that, we were able to get a baseline and the balance dialed in for these components as well. The car was completely reliable and ran like a sewing machine which was fantastic. That allowed the driver to get a lot of good quality track time as well to make the day even better,” said Scarallo.
Group-A Racing is going to continue with their testing program during the month of November & December at New Jersey Motorsports Park & Roebling Road.
