Continuing to piece together their 2024 race program, Jay Howard Driver Development (JHDD) is pleased to confirm the signing of Arizona resident Jace Bacon. Set to compete in USF2000 Presented by Continental Tire, Bacon will make the switch to open-wheel racing and make it his primary focus in 2024.
“Jace had a good test with us in NOLA and is a promising young talent,” explained Team Owner and former NTT INDYCAR SERIES driver Jay Howard. “He will be a great fit in our USF2000 efforts and should flourish with our driver development efforts.”
Relatively new to motorsports in general, Bacon has only been racing for a few seasons but is a proven winner. Beginning his career in local-level competition at APEX Motor Club, Bacon was the 2023 Apex Challenge Series Vice Champion and Rookie of the Year as well as the Vice Champion in the Radical Cup North America program with several race wins and podium results.
Showing pace as a rookie in both local and national level competition, Bacon tried his first open-wheel car at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the USF Pro Championships Fall Combine. Making the move to JHDD for a test at Barber Motorsports Park a month later and NOLA Motorsports Park this past week, Bacon has now confirmed his intentions and a career in open-wheel racing.
“I am ready. We had a good first test where we were able to learn from one another and that progression continued at NOLA,” expressed Bacon. “It will be a learning year for me, but I am up for the challenge and ready to go.”
With additional test days and weekends planned between now and the first race of the season, Bacon will make his USF2000 series debut at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in early March.
