Cape Motorports with Wayne Taylor Racing is pleased to announce that Nico Jamin has joined the team to race in the 2015 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda. Jamin, 19, will drive the No. 2 entry.
The Frenchman began his career in karting at the age of 14 and quickly worked his way up through the sport. After success in the French F4 Championships and the Formula Renault 2.0/NEC Championships, he competed in the USF2000 Series in 2014. He claimed a third-place finish in just his first race and finished ninth in the championship.
“Cape Motorsports (owners Dominic and Nicholas Cape) have proven these past four years that they are clearly the kings of USF2000,” Jamin said. “Their drivers have won the championship four years in a row, and the team has a tremendous amount of racing experience.
“My goal for next year is clearly to claim the championship. I’m coming for it, and I’ll do all my best to get it. Last year I learned every track, the car, the rolling start and oval racing - things that were new for me. I worked a lot this winter to be ready to compete for the championship.”
Cape Motorsports has produced the last four series champions (2011 – 2014). The team is hoping to extend that to five in 2015.
“Nico is a great addition to the team,” said team owners Dominic and Nicholas Cape. “He had a great rookie season, and we know he can win races in 2015. We are excited to have him on the team.”
The team will announce its second driver shortly.
The USF2000 season starts March 28th at St. Petersburg, Fla. For more information on Cape Motorsports, please visit www.capemotorsports.com.
