LEEDS, Ala. -- After a challenging weekend on the streets of St. Petersburg, John Cummiskey Racing returns to the track that gave the team its first taste of success in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda.
In the team's first full season in USF2000 in 2015, JCR managed to get a runner-up finish in the second race of the weekend, but this year the team is hoping for a strong performance with drivers Ayla Agren and Lucas Kohl.
Agren, the only female in the Mazda Road to Indy, topped the final session in pre-season testing at Barber before heading to St. Petersburg. The 2014 SCCA F1600 champion will be looking for a good result behind the wheel of her No. 33 Energima machine.
Kohl, one of three Brazilians in USF2000, is in his first season in USF2000 competition. Kohl earned the Tilton Hard Charger award during the second race at St. Petersburg after moving from 26th starting position to finish 14th. Kohl will be behind the wheel of the No. 34 Bellko Trading car.
Ayla Agren: "It's really good to be back at Barber Motorsports Park, obviously we were here for the preseason testing which went really well, we know we have the speed there, now we just have to figure out the final tweaks so we can run up front for the races here. St. Pete was what it was, we learned a lot during that weekend, and now we've just got to move forward and keep fighting for wins here at Barber Motorsports Park."
Lucas Kohl: "I hope we can manage to get back the points we lost in St. Pete. I think we will have a very competitive car, as we saw on the spring test here in Barber we have a good setup for this track and we will try to manage it to a podium finish."
The USF2000 races will be at 4:30 PM CT on Friday April 22nd and at 5:35 PM CT on Saturday April 23rd. The races can be followed on the Road to Indy app for iOS and Android and at www.roadtoindy.tv.
