Piedrahita, Lagudi and Younessi ready to challenge for class honors in inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix

MINNEAPOLIS, MN. – JDC MotorSports concludes its successful 2011 Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship powered by Mazda campaign this weekend (September 3-4), when the series race winner takes part in the inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix street races. With the talented trio of Juan Piedrahita, Roman Lagudi and Rodin Younessi once again getting behind the wheels, the Minnesota-based squad is poised to challenge for top honors in both the Championship and National classes in Rounds 11 & 12.

While the first-ever races near the Baltimore inner harbor are sure to present multiple new challenges to the USF2000 drivers and teams, JDC MotorSports enters the season-finale confident it can rise to the occasion. That belief comes via the fact that the multiple junior formula championship-winning squad has plenty of experience on tight twisty street circuits. When combined with the fact that JDC will also have data and information to draw on from its multi-car Star Mazda Championship effort during the Baltimore event, the three USF2000 racers will have all the tools necessary to end the 2011 season on a high note.

Piedrahita returns to the cockpit of the No. 19 Petrosur/GFK Motors/Montopharma/Colombia es pasion/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports Van Diemen-Mazda in Maryland focused on challenging for a place on the podium. The Colombian showed good speed in the only other previous street circuit this season, earning a front-row start for Round Three on the streets of St. Petersburg, and is now hoping to convert that apparent street racing skill into an inaugural USF2000 win.

For Lagudi, the season-finale doubleheader is yet another opportunity to display his ever-growing talents behind the wheel. The No. 10 High Performance Distributors/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports Van Diemen-Mazda racer has impressed many during his partial season, steadily working his way up the scoring charts, and is now positioned to challenge for a place on the post-race podium.

When Younessi slides into the cockpit of the No. 16 Younessi Racing/Red Line Oil/ JDC MotorSports Van Diemen in Baltimore he will be going head-to-head against the largest National class field to date. That being said, the Floridian has gelled with the JDC crew since joining the squad late in the season, and is ready to fight for the class win.

The JDC MotorSports trio will get their first chance to sample the Baltimore Grand Prix street circuit on Friday (September 2) via a morning practice session and the lone qualifying run late in the day. Round 11 of the Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda takes place at 2:15 p.m. local time on Saturday (September 3), followed by Round 12 at 10:20 a.m. on Sunday morning (September 4). JDC MotorSports enters the season-finale doubleheader fourth in the Team standings, while Piedrahita is currently sixth in the championship chase.

About JDC MotorSports:

Involved in formula car racing since its inception in 1994, JDC MotorSports has established itself as one of the leading junior open-wheel teams in North America. Initially making its mark in the F2000 class of club racing competition, JDC MotorSports was soon a team worth watching in the pro ranks. Competing in the Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship, the team not only won races, but also helped develop multiple young drivers. In 2005, JDC MotorSports expanded its efforts, entering the Star Mazda Championship. Quickly becoming one of the top teams in the series, JDC captured both the driver and team titles in 2007, as well as Rookie of the Year honors, with Dane Cameron scoring a series-high three wins. In 2008, JDC MotorSports was the runner-up in the Star Mazda Championship and finished fourth in its inaugural season of F2000 Championship Series competition. The Minnesota-based team won the Star Mazda Championship title with Rookie of the Year Adam Christodoulou, and the F2000 Championship Series title with Chris Miller in 2009. This past year, JDC continued its winning ways, earning the Rookie of the Year award in the Star Mazda Championship with Connor De Phillippi, and scoring a non-points win in the USF2000 National Championship. The Minneapolis-based squad will compete in the Star Mazda Championship, USF2000 National Championship and Prototype Lites Championship in 2011 via multi-car operations.
