"This is one of the races where being a veteran is really beneficial"

ALVIN, Texas – As the month of May comes to a close, we embark on the most important weekend of all, the Indianapolis 500 race weekend. Although they aren’t racing the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval, Trey Burke along with his team, Joe Dooling Autosports - Curb/Agajanian, will be taking on the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park this weekend for the Carb Day Classic. With just two short weeks between the Cooper Tire USF2000 Indy Grand Prix and the upcoming Cooper Tire Freedom 75 race, Burke and his team have been preparing vigilantly.

Burke, having run a few testing laps at the 0.686-mile oval back in April, is excited for the weekend and the only oval on the schedule in 2022.

“I’m super pumped about the upcoming oval race. It’s our first and only, so it means a lot,” explained Burke. “Hopefully I can dig back into my oval roots to pull off another good result for the team. I know we have it in us from the testing we’ve done, so we just must put the pieces together.”

Burke, who had a few unlucky runs at the Indianapolis Grand Prix to no fault of his own, is ready to show off his speed and intuitiveness once again to methodically work his way to the front of the field.

Burke added, “It is not an easy track to pass on so qualifying well is important. Starting up front is key, especially as the tires degrade as the race nears the end. It felt great to be back running on an oval when we tested a few weeks ago. This is one of the races where being a veteran is really beneficial, and since I have come from an oval background it is extra special for me and one I had circled on my calendar.”
