September 30, 2021 – In their rookie season for both the team and driver, Joe Dooling Autosports and Trey Burke are ready to turn the corner and end the 2021 season on a high.
Progressing through the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship with highs and lows, the Texas based program has encountered their fair share of speed bumps along the way but feel they are ready to make a charge forward into the 2022 racing season beginning this weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio
“For us, 2022 starts now,” expressed Joe Dooling. “We are just a small one car effort and that has put us behind the bigger teams in the series in both development work, setup and driver coaching. However, we knew the season would be this way and we are committed to Trey and our program. With our sights firmly set on 2022, we are starting that new season now and will continue it through our winter test program and into the first race of next season.”
Making the jump from dirt sprint cars to the USF2000 ranks, Trey Burke has taken the season in stride. Never one to get down on his team, he is pushing himself to the max to ensure success in the future.
“I can’t thank Joe Dooling Autosports for the opportunity to compete in the USF2000 Series, and I hope to continue on next season with success,” added Burke. “Without Joe, I would not be able to compete in the Road to Indy and for that I am very thankful.”
Dooling added, “Trey is a talent behind the wheel and though we have had some issues this season, we are building our program for a better and stronger effort in 2022. With an increased media presence, qualified and experience personnel and track knowledge, we are looking to climb the results sheets next season as we build our program.”
This coming weekend will feature a jam-packed two race event over two days at the 13-turn 2.258-mile facility. Added to the schedule as a makeup race for the canceled IndyCar event weekend in Toronto, the Road to Indy finale is a stand-alone event that will feature all three rungs of the popular ladder program. On track activity will begin Saturday morning with practice before qualifying and the first wheel-to-wheel racing later that day. Sunday will be the home of qualifying two and race two on the weekend.
