Burke StP 2022 advance
Closing the 2021 season less than five months ago, Joe Dooling Autosports and Trey Burke are now ready to get their 2022 campaign started. Competing in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship, both Burke and Joe Dooling Autosports are entering their sophomore season on the entry level of the Road to Indy ladder program and look to build on momentum gained from last season.

With a long, yet busy off season now complete, the Texas-based program will travel to the barrier lined circuit in St. Petersburg, Florida as they look to start the season off on the right foot. In a unique weekend that will feature one practice session, one qualifying attempt and the first two rounds of the season, Burke and the rest of the USF2000 drivers will see no track time on Saturday due to a compact and very busy race weekend.

“The 2022 season is here, and we can’t wait to get started,” explained Burke. “We have had a busy and productive off season but now it is time to go racing. With one year under my belt, I am entering 2022 with much more confidence, expectations and goals.”

Showing progression in his rookie season, Burke continuously improved throughout his 2021 campaign as the Joe Dooling Autosports program evolved. Fast forward to 2022, renewed focus and energy has been restored to the Texas program as a new racing season is on the horizon.

“Trey is a multi-discipline driver with a good head on his shoulders,” explained Joe Dooling. “He has had much success in sprint car dirt oval racing, and I think we can turn him into a road racing champion. As a team, we are a work in progress, but the progression and improvement has been substantial, and we are looking for more of that in 2022 before announcing additional racing plans.”

Burke added, “I have a great group behind me. From my support system to my family to my engineer, Joe Dooling Autosports has put the right people in the right place for success.”

The Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires kicks off this weekend with the first on track activity on Thursday. The first wheel-to-wheel race of 2022 take the green flag on Friday with race two on Sunday just prior to the NTT INDYCAR Series.
