Disappointing results for Burke; focus shifts to Indy

Joe Dooling Motorsports - Curb/Agajanian took to the rolling hills of Alabama and Barber Motorsports Park this past weekend for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama looking to shake up the track. Their lone driver, Trey Burke, was aiming for championship points to catapult him forward in the race to the trophy. With weather delays and tough competition, it would be a challenging weekend for the single car team.

Returning to Barber Motorsports Park after a successful test, Burke was hoping that momentum gained from that single day test would carry over to the race weekend. Looking to fight inside the top 10, Burke would have his work cut out for him after qualifying 16th for both rounds three and four of the 2022 race season.

With the first green flag of the weekend on Saturday afternoon, the second year Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship driver looked to stay out of trouble, gain more experience and move through the field. With 20 laps on the schedule and not a caution in the race to bunch the field, Burke was able to cross the line in 15th despite running lap times that were comparable to the top-10 finishers.

Returning to the track on Sunday, Burke would pilot his Joe Dooling Autosports - Curb/Agajanian prepared machine towards the front of the field.  After a slightly delayed race due to weather, Burke started from the outside of row eight, looking to make moves through the field. With a complete green flag race, there weren’t many chances for the field to bunch up and be able to make some moves, however Burke was able to gain one additional place and wrap up the Alabama weekend in with a P15 effort.

Their next race will be in two weeks tackling the road course of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Indianapolis Grand Prix.
