Watkins Glen, N.Y. – As the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda travels to Watkins Glen International this weekend, series rookie Darren Keane will add another historic road course to his tally as he races at the 3.4-mile circuit for the first time in conjunction with the Verizon IndyCar Series event.
The track which is nestled in upstate New York near the village of Watkins Glen, features 11 challenging corners with various elevation changes throughout the lap. The twists and turns of the iconic circuit makes it a favorite among drivers of every discipline.
Keane has continued to show improvement throughout his debut year as he learns the intricacies of the USF2000 machines. He will pilot the No. 36 Newman Wachs Racing at Watkins Glen which he recently tested at the track.
Keane scored his best finish of the year at Toronto when he took home a fourth place result
and aims for another positive outing at the Glen.
“I did a two-day test at Watkins Glen and I’m really looking forward to applying what I learned this weekend,” said Keane. “I think we can have a strong result if all of the things we have worked on come together. The best part of the track is Turn 1 – I love the elevation change on the entry to mid-corner, the car wants to fall away on the downhill but the compression catches you so it’s pretty cool.”
