Thomas Nepveu and his #2 Cromwell | Karting Excellence | Home Hardware car prepared by Cape Motorsports return to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, for a two-race weekend that will close out the 2021 USF2000 series season. Thomas Nepveu already visited the central Ohio technical road course for the first time in July where he scored 13th, 5th and 9th place finishes over the triple-header weekend.
The USF2000 rookie is 10th in the championship standings and third in the Rookie-of-the-Year contest, 17 points behind the leader, as this weekend results will determine both championship winners.
"This is our last weekend of the season in USF2000, with two important races for me. The results will be decisive for the Rookie of the Year title and I want to win," Thomas Nepveu said with confidence.
"Our first visit went well last July and I'm aiming for top-5 finishes this weekend. The goal is also to have fun on the track. We will only have one practice session on Saturday to prepare for the two qualifying sessions and it's important to be quick enough to qualify at the front of the grid as Mid-Ohio is a track where it's hard to pass," concluded Thomas Nepveu.
“Thomas Nepveu had a really good weekend pace-wise at the Mid-Ohio IndyCar weekend. Qualifying did not go his way but in the races his speed was evident. USF2000 is one of the hardest championships in the world to succeed at with so many good teams and drivers. It is a constant learning curve, and the goal posts are always moving. We are looking for a good weekend from Thomas in the final USF2000 race weekend,” said Dominic Cape, President of Cape Motorsports.
Mid-Ohio
At Mid-Ohio, we find only one real straightaway, with a slow entry speed that limits the top speed at the end of the straight. From there, the drivers then weave through a series of seven changes of direction strung together. That requires constant attention from the driver to always be in the correct line for entry and exit from a corner and to be well placed for the next one. No time to relax on this busy little layout.
