ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing is pleased to announce that Matthew Brabham will drive for the team in the Cooper Tires presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda.

Australian-American driver Brabham has spent his entire life surrounded by racing. He is the son of four-time IMSA GTP champion Geoff Brabham and the grandson of three-time Formula 1 champion Sir Jack Brabham.

Though only 17, he has been racing for more than 10 years. In May of this year, he won his first Australian Formula Ford National Championship race.  In addition, he has won numerous karting titles in Australia.

"I am really looking forward to competing in the Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship with Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing,” Brabham said. “I was very impressed when I tested with the team, and I feel it is a great opportunity for me to work with Dominic and Nicholas in 2012. I am sure my goal is the same as everyone else, and that is to try and win the championship. I know it will be tough as there are a lot of good drivers and teams, but I am excited about the challenge ahead and will give it my best shot."

Brabham will run the No. 83, which was made famous by his father. He joins previously announced driver Trent Hindman. A third driver announcement will be made later this week.

“We have never seen this much interest in USF2000 before,” said team owner Dominic Cape. “There is so much talent out there, but we feel that Matthew is a great addition to the team, and we expect strong results in 2012 from both he and Trent.”
