McIntosh To Be Part Of MTV Presents Seventeen Magazine’s Pretty Amazing Contest on Aug 30

SANTA MONICA, CA – MTV Networks, the world’s premier youth entertainment brand, announced today that MTV would air a docu-reality special MTV Presents Seventeen Magazine’s Pretty Amazing Contest on August 30, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. EDT.   With a global reach of more than a half-billion households, MTV will profile INDYCAR “Mazda Road to Indy” USF2000 race car driver Shannon McIntosh, along with the four other finalists who are competing for the October 2011 cover of Seventeen Magazine.

“To think just a year ago I wasn’t racing full-time yet and today have the opportunity to appear on an MTV special is very humbling,” said McIntosh. “Being followed by cameras for a couple weeks was definitely an experience in itself and I can only hope that people will see the passion I have for my racing career as well as a bit of who I am. I really have to thank the Hearst Corporation, Neutrogena, MTV and the production company VIMBY for giving me this platform to tell my story.”

McIntosh learned in May 2011 she was a finalist to grace the October 2011 cover of Seventeen, the iconic fashion and beauty magazine for 13 million teen girls, as part of the magazine’s inaugural "Pretty Amazing" real girl cover contest.  The 22-year-old from Miamisburg, Ohio, was featured in the August 2011 issue in a one-page spread and is also featured in the September issue, which is currently on newsstands.

MTV cameras captured McIntosh during her race weekend at The Milwaukee Mile in early June 2011 along with her trip to New York City for a makeover, photo shoot, and a luncheon with actress Miranda Cosgrove, star of Nickelodeon’s hit show iCarly.

To catch McIntosh on MTV Presents Seventeen Magazine’s Pretty Amazing Contest, tune into MTV on Tuesday, August 30, at 8:00 p.m. EDT.

Should McIntosh win the cover of Seventeen’s October issue, she would also receive $10,000 from Neutrogena®, and be the first athlete to grace the magazine’s cover since Olympian Dorothy Hamill’s 1976 iconic cover.
