TORONTO - Newman Wachs Racing will make its return to the 1.786-mile, 11-turn street circuit in the beautiful downtown Toronto area this weekend (July 12-14) for Rounds 8 and 9 of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship.
18-year-old Australian Cameron Shields is coming off his second podium in a row and is looking to continue this streak in the popular Canadian lakeside city. Shield’s 14-year-old teammate Nolan Siegel has been able to score two top-10 finishes in a row and, after starting the year with a great outing on the streets of St. Petersburg, the American is primed for an even better finish in Toronto with the experience under his belt.
Both NWR drivers will take to the track early Friday morning to kick off their doubleheader weekend. Each will have their minds set on podium finishes along with crucial championship points.
“I am really looking forward to getting back on a street circuit,” offered Brian Halahan, NWR Team Manager. “We have developed the car a lot over the season, so I think both drivers are ready to produce some strong results.”
NWR’s drivers will be on-track starting on Friday (July 12) with an early morning practice session followed by qualifying for Race 1. On Saturday (July 13), the team and the drivers will start bright and early with qualifying for Race 2 followed later in the afternoon with the first race of the doubleheader. Sunday’s action will be focused on the final race of the weekend, kicking off the day’s schedule at the NTT IndyCar Series’ Honda Indy Toronto.
Fans can follow along all weekend on the Road to Indy TV app, or through www.roadtoindy.tv or Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Facebook page. Newman Wachs Racing will also have dedicated coverage of their weekend on all their professional social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).
