American drivers Siegel and Dupell look to push each other to great results

PORTLAND, Ore. - Newman Wachs Racing will make its return to the 1.964-mile, 12-turn track at the Portland International Raceway this coming weekend for Rounds 12 and 13 of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship. California’s Nolan Siegel and the newly added Kyle Dupell from Oregon will use both the team’s and Kyle’s previous experience at the track last year to gain the best results possible.

Although Nolan did not post the results he would have liked at Mid-Ohio in July, he gained a huge amount of experience as a rookie, considering the steep competition in this USF2000 series. Siegel and Dupell will take to the track on Thursday for a Promoters Test Day, followed by the series’ standard doubleheader line-up of races.

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend,” offered Brian Halahan, NWR Team Manager. “We did a two-day test with Nolan earlier this month and made some improvements with the car and his driving. We will have Kyle joining the program, so they should be able to push each other to good results. We are still continuing to try to find a budget for Cameron, and hopefully he will able to be back with us at Laguna Seca.”

Siegel and Dupell will be on-track starting on Thursday (August 29) for the Promoters Test with three on-track sessions. Friday’s schedule (August 30) will feature one official practice early in the morning followed by qualifying for Race 1 in the late afternoon. Saturday will again start bright and early with Qualifying 2, with Race 1 taking place later that day. Sunday afternoon will cap off the weekend with the running of Race 2.

Hometown: Palo Alto, CA

Sponsors: Menlo Ventures

Current Championship Standing: 16th (89 pts)

Quote: “I had a long time to reflect on my weekend at Mid-Ohio, and I know what I need to do to get back to some solid finishes. The last few races were very challenging for me, so I’m excited to jump back into the car and get going again in Portland!”

KYLE DUPELL - #73

Age: 20

Hometown: Portland, OR

Sponsors: Opal Creek Capital, Family Help and Wellness

Quote: “I'm ecstatic to be back racing at home in Portland again this year. It’s a special feeling racing 10 minutes from home with all my family, friends and sponsors being there. Portland was my strongest weekend last year with two top-ten finishes in a weekend with a lot of issues we were working through.  I'm excited to see what Newman Wachs and I can get done this weekend at home.”
