Brownsburg, Ind. - After a challenging practice and qualifying for John Cummiskey Racing, drivers Ayla Agren and Lucas Kohl managed to end the opening weekend of the 2016 Cooper Tires Presents the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda season on a positive note.

Following qualifying, Agren and Kohl's cars were found to have used unapproved spark plugs during the weekend.  As a result, the No. 33 Energima car and the No. 34 Bellko Trading car were placed in 22nd and 23rd on the grid for the first of two 30-minute races.

Agren and Kohl had limited green flag running time in the first race thanks to two cautions for nine laps, but Agren was able to finish tenth while a technical problem meant that Kohl would finish where he started.

Agren and Kohl respectively lined up 21st and 26th for race two and were able to advance through the field. Agren finished 13th in race two while Kohl earned the Tilton Hard Charger Award after gaining 12 positions to finish 14th.

Ayla Agren: "We started from the back of the field in both races, 22nd in the first race and was lucky at the restarts, we were in the right spots at the right times, managed to gain positions and ended up tenth. Going into race two we started 21st due to all the yellows that we couldn't get some faster laps to get a better qualifying time. A little bit tougher out there today for race two to really get the flow of things and start charging, but we gained seven spots and we just have to keep working and we're really looking forward to Barber Motorsports Park where we showed that we were fast at the test.

Lucas Kohl: "For the first race we started 23rd and I had a problem with the car so I couldn't finish the first race, the second race we started 26th and we got the job done and finished 14th but there wasn't that much time for racing, but I did my best and the car was good and all of John Cummiskey Racing worked together really well."

The next racing weekend for the USF2000 Championship is at Barber Motorsports Park during the weekend of April 22nd -24th. The races can be followed on the Road to Indy app for iOS and Android and at www.roadtoindy.tv.
