Pabst Racing Continues The 2015 Mazda Road To Indy Season Momentum Leading Into Third Championship Weekend At Barber Motorsports Park
Oconomowoc, Wis. - The 2015 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda is in full swing and Pabst Racing continues to lead the championship with Jake Eidson as Rounds Five and Six quickly approach.
The team is back on the road after Rounds Three and Four in Avondale, La., which took place April 11, and 12. The weekend brought more podiums for Pabst Racing and great amounts of rain as well. Second year USF2000 driver Jake Eidson piloted the #22 Pabst Racing machine to third place in both rounds and was happy with the results.
"Overall I was pretty happy with how the weekend went especially given the (rainy) conditions in the second race," said Eidson. "I wish to have had slightly better results but it was still a good points weekend for us."
Rookie driver Yufeng Luo who pilots the #23 Pabst Racing Van Diemen begun the weekend strong in all practices with top-10 times each outing, but had some misfortune during the races. After a respectable 10th in qualifications, Luo suffered contact in Round One, finishing 15th. However, he was able to secure a ninth-place finish in the second and very rainy race on Sunday, April 12.
"Even though we had some bad luck, I still think of it as a positive weekend. It was not the result we wanted but I learned from our experiences," said Luo. "Huge thanks to the Pabst Racing guys for their support and effort. We're hoping to see better results next race."
The Mazda Road to Indy teams this weekend will return to the 2.3-mile, 17-turn Barber Motorsports Park for the second time in 2015. In February, the second portion of the two-event Cooper Tires USF2000 Winterfest mini-series took place at Barber in Birmingham, Ala. After securing a second-place finish in the first race at Barber (but suffering a mechanical failure in the second), Pabst Racing hopes to return to Alabama and resolve some unfinished business.
The series will begin on track activity on Thursday for testing. Qualifications and the first race will take place on Friday, April 24 and the final race of the weekend will be Saturday evening. Visit www.USF2000.com for weekend schedule and upcoming events.
