Oconomowoc, Wis. There is not much that could have made the season opener better for the Pabst Racing team. The 2015 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda began on March 27 as the cars took to the track for the first practice. Jake Eidson topped both practices on the 1.8-mile street course. Qualifying took place on Saturday March 26 and the Pabst team found themselves in a familiar spot as Jake Eidson solidified a pole position in qualifying and Yufeng Luo qualified eighth.
The first race of the weekend took place Saturday afternoon. After proving to be the fastest car throughout practice and qualifying, Eidson and team hoped that they could continue the momentum through the first race. An eighteen-lap race may have seemed to last a lifetime as the team waited in suspense while Luo worked his way up through the field and Eidson remained the leader. The excitement continued and resulted in both a win and top-five finish with Eidson on top of the podium and Luo with an impressive result of fifth.
In race two, Jake Eidson found himself starting on the pole once again and Yufeng Luo started eighth. Redundancy is a good thing when winning is involved and the Pabst team continued their plan of remaining on top with another win by Jake Eidson in the number 22 Pabst Racing machine in race number two.
"After coming so close to winning Winterfest, it feels amazing to start the USF2000 Championship off with two wins," Eidson said. "There isn't really much more that you could ask for and I hope that the team continues to have results like this throughout the season."
The team will continue to stay busy throughout the month of April and pick up where they left off in New Orleans April 11 through 12 where they have unfinished business to complete. In the first race of the 2015 Cooper Tires Winterfest at NOLA, the team scored a second place finish with Eidson and suffered bad luck in the second race.
