Pabst Racing Drivers Austin Cindric and Will Owen Will Return to Barber Motorsports Park for Rounds 3 and 4 of The 2014 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Presented By Mazda Oconomowoc, Wisconsin - The 2014 racing season will resume for The Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Presented by Mazda this weekend. After a four-week hiatus, the second race weekend of the championship season will take place at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala.
Although this is the second race weekend of the official season, the team will be returning to Barber Motorsports Park, where they raced in February during The Cooper Tires USF2000 Winterfest and scored three top-10s with second-season driver Austin Cindric.
After bringing home two more top-10s in the season opener at the Peninsula Pipeline Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Owen and Cindric will take what they have learned so far in 2014 and put it to the test starting on Thursday, April 24, when they take to the track for two test sessions.
Pabst Racing driver of the #77 Nightrain Clothing, Pabst Racing USF2000 car, Austin Cindric reflected on the weekend at St. Petersburg and said, "Overall, I am happy with St. Pete. After sorting out our misfire, we were fast and we raced well, just didn't get the results. I intend to take what I learned about the car, and what I took away from Winterfest, and apply it toward an even better performance at Barber."
With a top finish of sixth on Sunday at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Will Owen was also happy with St. Pete and is looking forward to racing again at Barber Motorsports Park.
"I am very happy with my performance in St. Pete. I made huge gains throughout the weekend, so I am hoping that I can carry that experience and knowledge over to Barber where I have had a lot of track time."
After the first day of testing on Thursday, the teams and drivers will return to the course on Friday at 12:30 p.m. CST and finish the second day qualifying for 30 minutes at 4:00 p.m. CST. The Birmingham race weekend will be shorter than the previous event as both races will be completed on Saturday, April 26th. The first race will begin at 9:05 a.m. CST, and the second will begin at 1:00 p.m. CST.
The race weekend will coincide with the Verizon IndyCar Series' third race of the season, which will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network. USF2000 will also share the track with the other Mazda Road to Indy series, Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires and Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires, during the weekend as well as a sports car series, Pirelli World Challenge
