Pabst Racing Services Adds an Additional Car to their USF2000 Championship Team for Next Season OCONOMOWOC, Wis. - With 2013 quickly approaching, Pabst Racing Services announced today that they have secured three drivers for the 2013 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship class in INDYCAR's Mazda Road to Indy.
A team with a diverse background ranging from sports car racing (of all types) to open wheel, including the Formula Atlantic series, Pabst Racing Services has been preparing winning race cars for nearly thirty years.
"Our whole team is looking forward to 2013 with high expectations for a successful season," said Team Owner/President Augie Pabst III. "The cars have been completely rebuilt and prepared with our highest of standards to give our drivers the best chance on the racetrack."
Pabst Racing will field a team with strong Canadian roots having two of their drivers and one mechanic as natives. Returning for his second year will be Queen's University engineering student Dalton Kellett in the No. 5., who looks forward to returning to the Pabst Racing team.
"Last year the team prepared an excellent package at each race and now with a year of experience behind me, I am looking forward to achieving good results in the 2013 season," said Kellett. "With the addition of the Honda Indy Toronto to the schedule, I am especially excited to be racing in my hometown this July."
Piloting the No. 21 for Pabst Racing is 15-year-old Canadian Jesse Lazare from Dollard des Ormeaux, Quebec. Lazare will enter 2013 as a rookie and surely one of the youngest drivers in the championship. In only his eight years of racing, Lazare brings many karting championships to the table as well as experience in FF1600 cars. He looks forward to gaining experience in the States.
"This being my first year in winged cars, I am looking to learn and improve as much as possible," said Lazare. "The big difference for me will be the cars and the tracks in 2013. I have only raced in the USA once, but I am looking forward to the challenge. I learned a lot in the FF1600 last year, and now I hope to build on that experience."
Entering his second season of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda is Mount Vernon, Ohio native Jason Wolfe who will pilot the No. 23 for Pabst Racing Services. At age 18, Wolfe will enter his eighth year of racing with confidence in his team and choice to stay in the USF2000 series.
"I was very uncertain with where to take my racing for the 2013 season prior to testing with Pabst Racing Services because of my 2012 season results," said Wolfe. "But at the end of the test day with Pabst Racing Services, I knew I wanted to spend my 2013 season in the USF2000 series with them. I was very happy with how the team was run as far as organization, attention to detail, and our progression as the day went on."
The team will begin the year with Wolfe and Lazare during the first and second weeks of February for the USF2000 series' six-race Cooper Tires Winterfest Championship at Sebring International Raceway and Palm Beach International Raceway, in Florida.
Due to Kellett's school schedule, he will begin the racing season on opening weekend of the 2013 championship as part of the American Le Mans Series' Twelve Hours of Sebring.
