With countless test days already under his belt, Jay Howard Driver Development (JHDD) team driver Evagoras Papasavvas will be forced to delay the start of his Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship season. After being involved in a karting incident in early December, Papasavvas will require surgery that will take some time to heal pushing back the start date for his 2022 campaign.
“It is a shame that Evagoras will not be able to run the full championship this season, but his health is the number one concern,” explained Jay Howard. “We will see Evagoras back behind the wheel in a May timeframe, so we are looking to possibly have him start his season at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway or at the Lucas Oil Raceway.”
“Definitely disappointing to not be able to start the season on track with the team but the plan is to be there whenever possible on test days and a race weekend or two that we may miss,” explained Evagoras. “I had a persistent issue that I had to take care and the setback just makes me that much more motivated to get in the car and get down to business as soon as possible.”
Set to miss the series test and the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg at the end of February, Evagoras is aiming to be back behind the wheel of his JHDD USF2000 machine for the Indianapolis Grand Prix event over the May 12-14 weekend.
Evagoras continued, “I can’t thank my partners enough for all their support in this process. Thank you to BodyWise, Tiger Natural Gas, Ares Elite Sports Vision, GutsWear Racing and my family. I am looking forward to getting back in the seat.”
