JHDD LOR 2020 Recap

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Jay Howard Driver Development’s (JHDD) Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship team and Christian Rasmussen once again proved to be an unstoppable force in 2020 as the combination powered to their sixth win from as many starts at the Carb Night Classic hosted at Lucas Oil Raceway.

As Rasmussen extended his points lead at the head of the USF2000 Championship standings, Nolan Siegel had another solid showing, running top five pace throughout the event and was wheel-to-wheel throughout the 75-lap race in what was a very competitive field.Christian Bogle also enjoyed a spirited run on the oval, engaging in a race long battle with teammate Bijoy Garg, who like fellow JHDD driver Wyatt Brichacek, was making his oval debut on the Road to Indy.

With Lucas Oil Raceway proving to be yet another successful outing for the squad, team owner Jay Howard was naturally ecstatic to see the winning streak continue. “Another exceptional performance from Christian (Rasmussen) and all of team who are working so hard to make sure this run continues. Nolan (Siegel) showed great pace throughout and a little bit gutted he wasn’t able to get a result that his pace warranted, as he was especially strong on Thursday.(Christian) Bogle and Bijoy (Garg) had an entertaining battle and will have learned a lot from that, and like Wyatt (Brichacek), I’m sure they’re all keen to bank this experience and come back stronger the next time we return to oval configuration. Now it’s time for all of us to keep our heads down and work harder than ever to make sure we keep the pressure on when we roll into Indy GP here in a couple of weeks. Again, a big thanks to all of the boys for all of the hard work they are putting in, and long may this form continue!”

WHAT THE DRIVERS SAID:

#5 Wyatt Brichacek
Round 6 – P18
“Just finished up the oval race here at Lucas Oil Raceway. It was my first oval and definitely a different experience than what I’ve been used to. It was okay. We finished with all four tires on the car, so all in all decent weekend. We’ll be ready for next year to be faster and racing for a podium.”

#6 Christian Rasmussen
Round 6 – P1
“Finished up here at Lucas Oil Raceway. Another win for me, so great! We got the pole position; we got the win. We’re on a six-race win streak, so it’s amazing! It’s been an unbelievable season so far. Looking to continue that into IMS in a few weeks, so naturally, I can’t wait to get back to the Brickyard! See you guys soon!”

#7 Christian Bogle
Round 6 – P16
“Just wrapped up the USF2000 weekend here at Lucas Oil. Ended up having a pretty good weekend with decent pace; about half a second off of pole time. Definitely a really good learning experience, and I had a lot of fun running the oval. We’ll come back next year stronger and we’ll see what we can do.”

#9 Nolan Siegel
Round 6 – P11
“Overall my weekend at the oval didn’t quite go as we wanted it to, but we had good pace and it was promising. Hopefully next time we’ll do better.”

#18 Bijoy Garg
Round 6 – P17
“This weekend was pretty fun. It was my first time in an oval, so pretty good learning experience. I learned all I could, and I will come back stronger at the Indy GP.”
