Florida teenager focused on more wins in move up to Championship Class

FORT MYERS, FLA. – ZSports/Team E Racing is excited to announce it will be making the move up to the Championship Class in the 2013 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda with highly regarded teenager RC Enerson once again leading the way from behind the wheel. After a title contending effort in the 2012 National Class, both the up-and-coming racer and the Florida-based team are hungry to continue their winning ways this coming season.

Unlike the 2012 race campaign, which featured the ZSports/Team E Racing partnership with Enerson entering the first race as an unknown quantity, the 2013 USF2000 Championship will get underway with everyone well aware of their potential to challenge for top honors. The 15 year-old is reuniting with the crew under the ZSports/Team E Racing awning confident he can build on what was an impressive debut season in the Mazda Road to Indy program that witnessed four trips to the top of the National Class podium. Sliding into the driver's seat of a new Championship Class Van Diemen Mazda this time out, Enerson is focused on immediately being a front-runner.

"I learned so much last year, and am looking forward to competing in the Championship Class this year," stated Enerson. "Starting off this season again with the ZSports team of Steve Thomson and my engineer Ron Boltik is super exciting for me. I believe we are well positioned to challenge for wins and the series title. I can't wait for the racing to get underway at Sebring."

"Ron and I can hardly wait for the 2013 season to start!" added ZSports team principal Steve Thomson. "RC's performance last year was nothing less than amazing. He is so calm behind the wheel, and possesses car control beyond his 15 years. If his results from testing are any indication, moving up to the Championship Class is a challenge RC and the entire team is looking forward to."

While Enerson will once again be one of the youngest drivers in the USF2000 Championship in 2013, he begins the season with a strong racing resume. The New Port Richey, Fla., resident, and son of Indy Lights Team E Racing owner Neil Enerson, first came to the forefront in karting, securing numerous wins before making the transition to cars at just the age of 12. Initially focusing on testing, the highly-regarded youngster began racing wheel-to-wheel with other drivers via Skip Barber Racing action, scoring two Skip Racing Regional Series wins by the age of 14. Enerson continued his move up the motorsports ladder last season, joining the USF2000 Championship, where he raced in the National class - for Zetec-powered Van Diemens and Formula Enterprises cars. Showcasing his talents right from the get go, he ended the year with four wins and five additional trips to the podium en route to third place in the title fight. The Patriot Bank – Team E supported racer also made his Championship class debut last year at the prestigious 'Night Before the 500' event in Indianapolis, earning a top-seven finish and the Hard Charger Award, after starting 20th due to a faulty fuel pump in qualifying.

Enerson and ZSports/Team E Racing commence their quest for 2013 race glory on February 5-6, when the opening three rounds of the Cooper Tires Winterfest are contested at Sebring International Raceway. The chase for Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda supremacy gets underway on March 14-15, when the same historic race track in central Florida hosts Rounds One and Two as part of the prestigious Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring event. Ahead of the two events, ZSports/Team E Racing will continue its off-season preparations, with drivers interested in joining the squad encouraged to contact team principal Steve Thomson.
