Birmingham, Ala. - Last weekend the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda was back on track at Barber Motorsports for Rounds 3 and 4 of the championship.  It was a busy weekend with a qualifying and race occurring on both Friday and Saturday.

The number 20 Mendards/Metalloid Firearms & Sports car started Race 1 in the 24th position and ended in the 20th position on Friday.

Driver Chandler Horton had this to say about Race 1: “I was happy with the start of the race, picking up some positions. Unfortunately, I made a mistake on Lap Two and lost quite a few of them but I was happy to get a few of them back before the safety car came out. Then at the end I just pushed a bit too hard in the final corner and it cost me. Overall, I was happy with the race itself.”

On Saturday the Menards/Metalloid Firearms & Sports number 20 car was back out to qualify in the 23rd spot for Race 2.  Horton finished the race in 14th position and had this to say: “Luckily we escaped all of the first lap chaos in Race Two. Then when we went green it was just solid racing until the finish. I think overall there were plenty of positives to take from Barber.”

The 2017 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda heads to Indianapolis Motor Speedway next for Rounds 5 and 6 on the Grand Prix Circuit, May 11th-13th.

About RJB Motorsports:
Former pro hydro boat racer Ryan Barth established RJB Motorsports in 2011 when he made the switch toward four-wheel racing in the SCCA’s Formula 600 category. He quickly formed a partnership with fellow F600 racers and brothers Fred and Tom Edwards, whose company, Metalloid Corporation, produces a range of environmentally friendly fluids to the metalworking industry. The association led to the formation of the F600 Challenge Series, a cost-effective, entry level championship featuring motorcycle engines and six-speed sequential transmission, and more recently to a long-term goal of assisting talented young drivers via the proven Mazda Road to Indy.

About Metalloid:
