BGR with RTD looks to make series debut in March with testing planned in January
Indianapolis, Indiana – Announcing the formation of Brian Graham Racing with RTD Autosport just over one month ago, the newly formed partnership has been hard at work planning for the upcoming 2017 season. Along with the formation of a company, budgeting and reservations, Brian Graham Racing with RTD Autosport has also stepped up to the plate to purchase a second Tatuus USF-17, the 35th and last USF2000 car that was available.
“It is great that we have obtained two cars for the upcoming season but on the other hand, it has been a little stressful. With that being said, we have been busy making sure that we are 100% ready for 2017,” explained Brian Graham. “With both USF-17’s and Mazda engines set to arrive in early December from Tatuus and Elite Engines, we will be ready to hit the ground running with multiple test days in January.”
“It is a big undertaking starting a new team but it is something that Brian and I are committed to doing,” explained Mike Maurini. “We both have our strengths and have divided the tasks that need to be completed based on those strengths. There have been a ton of e-mails, phone calls and text messages but we our crossing are T’s and dotting our I’s to ensure we are ready to go.”
With the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Series Powered by Mazda set to commence on the temporary street circuit in St. Petersburg, Florida March 11-13, both Brian Graham and Mike Maurini were present at the recent SuperKarts! USA SuperNationals in Las Vegas to discuss and finalize 2017 plans, as well as speak to and scout some potential drivers.
Maurini continued, “Our goal is to establish ourselves in 2017 and then promote drivers up through the ranks. With my presence in karting and Brian being a fixture in the F1600 ranks, we now have three rungs of the motorsports ladder with our USF2000 team. Also, to be part of the Mazda Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires program is invaluable.”
