LEXINGTON, Ohio – After multiple days of testing at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Team Pelfrey turned their attention to the race event for Rounds 10, 11, and 12 of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda and Rounds 12 and 13 of the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires.

Although the final results were not in line with the expectations for the weekend, the highlights of the event were top-five finishes for Sting Ray Robb and Julian van der Watt. Kyle Dupell and Bruna Tomaselli both showed exceptional speed at stages throughout the weekend, while Andres Gutierrez suffered an unfortunate wrist injury which prevented him from competing in the final Pro Mazda race of the weekend.

“The weekend was pretty good, the first race we started 13th, and came back to fifth, the car was really good. The second race, we got pushed out wide coming out of turn two on the first lap, so we fell back to 19th and we managed to get back to eighth. We’ve proven that the car is really quick in race situations, and in the final race we were running fifth, catching the leaders up until that point, we had the second quickest lap in the entire race and that’s when car number 24 just tried to dive up right inside going into turn four and came out of nowhere and then just took us out of the race, so we dropped back almost to last place. We still posted one of the fastest times in the entire race, so the car was fast, we just didn’t have luck on our side.”

"Overall, the weekend was a really good learning experience. Our pace went from mid field to easily in top five by the end of the weekend, so I think the way we’re improving will be good for Portland."

Bruna Tomaselli (No. 82 Bruna & Bia Team Pelfrey USF2000)

“We had a difficult weekend here at Mid-Ohio. We had a good practice on Thursday. On Friday, I didn’t finish the race, Saturday was better. On Sunday, I had a problem at the start so I lost some positions, then I passed some guys. I didn’t end up in a position that I like, but I’m just going to keep working hard for Portland.”
