Robert Megennis:

Race 1: Qualified 7^th // Finished 13^th

Race 2: Qualified 6^th // Finished 5^th 

• Starting Race One from midfield, Megennnis found rhythm in the second half of the race and continuously laid down quick lap times, gaining valuable seconds to challenge Jose Sierra for fourth-place.  The 17-year-old lost grip at the exit of Turn 6, making brief contact which resulted in an early retirement.
• Megennis hovered at the top of the time sheets prior to the red flag in Race Two qualifying, however following a break in the on-track action, traffic and several local cautions made it difficult to better his early progress. He managed to secure a third row starting position for Race Two.
• In Race Two, Megennis started strong and battled his way to third, when a full course caution reset the field. Following the restart, Megennis had slight wheel-to-wheel contact with Rinus VeeKay while fighting for second place causing light damage to his suspension. Though initially falling a few positions, the series sophomore adapted his aggressive driving style and quickly adapted his aggressive driving style and quickly placed pressure on Darren Keane as the laps diminished. 

“This track is so much fun. There’s always a lot of going on. The track is bumpy and there’s an asphalt change. There’s a lot you have to remember and deal with through the races, so I really do enjoy this place. I love the city of Toronto and I love racing here.”

Race 2: Qualified 13^th// Finished 3^rd 

• The Maryland native adapted quickly to the 1.5-mile street circuit to secure a solid fourth-place position for Race One, however Frederick’s day ended early when he made contact with the outside wall in Turn 8.
• Frederick went into the weekend with the mindset to better himself as a driver and consistently hitting his marks every lap instead of focusing strictly on results. His mental approach paid off after the rookie drove a flawless race in the second event of the weekend after starting in the back half of the field. 

“I woke up this morning thinking I could only move forward. I mean, I was starting 13th in Race Two. I was thinking I just have to hit my marks and slowly make my way up there. It was a great race because I put my head down and continued to improve the whole time.” 

Team Pelfrey travels back stateside to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on July 28-30 for the next rounds of the Mazda Road to Indy Championship Presented by Cooper Tires.
